Three Italian nonnas sit on a bench suspended in the clouds, waiting for a bus that will take them onward. They may not know it. Lost in conversation, sharing a quiet laugh, they occupy the moment as they always have. Their attention never leaves each other. The setting has shifted, but their habits have not. It could just as easily be a piazza. Nothing in their behaviour suggests otherwise. There is no urgency, no awareness of transition. Only the familiarity of waiting, and the comfort of company. Constructed from layered wood, the piece builds physical depth through cut and assembled forms. Acrylic paint defines each figure with clarity and character, while the surrounding cloud softens the boundary between the known and the unknown. A scene suspended between places, where nothing feels out of the ordinary, even when it is.
